Since we are talking about a City Hall’s division, meant for direct contact with the public, more precisely Cluj-Napoca locals, the project designers identified the need to refurnish the Information Desk following the European open-space model, so that it creates a mutual respect relationship between citizens and administration, based on transparency and elimination of waiting-times in front of desks.
In order to decrease the waiting time, especially in the document pick-up area, we resorted to spacing it out with dividing walls in order to facilitate the work of 10 employees. Inside, a special area containing sitting units was created, units repeating in front of the windows, except those where waiting time is short. Also, a number dispensing machine was placed in the lobby, in order to make the traffic smoother.
The area decoration was founded on specific services and institution, so that floral arrangement, theme paintings and paintings depicting the main events of Cluj-Napoca’s Mayor’s Office were preferred. From a color stand, warm and neutral tones were used, so that no political references would be picked up.
